Learn how to prepare soups for colds-part 2

As you know, last week we explained to you how to make Istanbul soup. In this series of articles, we intend to introduce you to different types of soup that are useful for colds between Iranian(Persian) foods in Toronto.

American pepper soup

Another way to prepare various soups for colds is to mention American pepper soup. American pepper soup has a red color and a spicy taste.

The necessary ingredients to prepare this type of soup for a cold are:

  • Two cups of chopped onion
  • Two cups of cooked red beans
  • Eight cloves of chopped garlic
  • A cup of chopped green bell pepper
  • A cup of chopped orange bell pepper
  • A cup of chopped red bell pepper
  • Two hundred grams of mutton
  • Two tablespoons of olive oil
  • A tablespoon of sugar
  • Three tomatoes chopped into a gem shape
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tablespoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon red pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon of thyme
  • Two to three leaves, fragrant leaves
  • Tomato paste as desired

The way to prepare American pepper soup is to first cook the red beans, fry the chopped onion with olive oil in a pan until golden. Mix chopped garlic cloves, pepper powder, chopped bell pepper, oregano and bay leaves together and fry in a separate pan with a spoonful of olive oil. Cook the meat as well. Mix sugar with water and tomato paste and add it to the meat and lower the heat until the tomato paste and sugar are absorbed by the meat. Mix cooked red beans, spices and onion together and fry all the ingredients for three minutes. Add these ingredients to the meat along with a glass of water. Reduce the heat until the soup is well cooked. Ten minutes before serving the soup, add chopped tomatoes to the soup pot. Pour the soup into the container of your choice and pour the grated cheese on top of the soup and wait until the cheese melts.

Chinese chicken soup

  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 3 cloves of chopped garlic
  • Substitute 1-2 red peppers, finely chopped, or 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon dried chopped red peppers.
  • 2 inches finely chopped ginger root
  • 1/2 pound boneless, skinless chicken cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 5 cups of chicken broth
  • Soy sauce 3 tablespoons
  • A cup of turmeric
  • 1/2 cup sweet potatoes, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
  • A head of broccoli separated into florets
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped

The way to prepare Chinese soup is to heat sesame oil in a pan and fry garlic, red pepper and ginger on low heat until they become soft and fragrant. Add the chicken pieces and stir as you close the meat. Add water, soy sauce, turmeric and sweet potato and let it boil. Reduce the heat and boil for 10 minutes. Add the broccoli and boil for another 5 minutes. Add the chopped green onions and serve.
